Our Journey to a Silver Rights Respecting School

We are thrilled to share the exciting progress our school is making toward achieving the prestigious Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award from UNICEF UK.

Following our success in earning the Bronze Award in 2023, our dedicated Young Leaders of Learning (YLL) steering group will be working hard to lead the next phase of this vital journey. The aim will be to embed the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) across every part of school life.

A key part of this work is underpinning our school values: Love, Resect Tolerance, Integrity and Trust, with specific articles from the UNCRC. This ensures that our values are not just words but are actively lived as fundamental human rights.

Upcoming Events:

• Human Rights Day (10th December) with SE lessons dedicated to the UNCRC and Social Subjects ‘Finding your Rights’ Scavenger Hunt, prizes and house points to be won.
• Next Term Plans: The YLL are already planning engaging activities for the new term, focusing on Charity work, Our School Charter, staff CLPL, Right of the Month and year group assemblies.

Together, we are ensuring St Benedict’s is a place where every child's rights are known, understood, and respected!
